It's Over

It’s Over

I heard him say I want a monogamous relation
He meant just for tonight.
I heard him say he wanted to build a relationship
He meant until we have sex.
I heard him say I miss you.
He meant until we make love again.
He held me and said he needed me.
He meant he needed my money during a hard time.
He said we were building a future.
He meant as long as my money didn’t run out.
He said I support your career.
He meant as long as it didn’t interfere with his needs.
I said it’s over
I meant it’s over.

Free At Last

I was sitting on the stoop
Laughing to keep from crying.
Crying over something that was totally
out of my control.
It is riduculous
and yet kind of ironic
Silly and yet rather sad
my old man who's been beating me died
Now I am free at last.

Reeling

I'm reeling
spinning completely out of control
trying to find a sense of sanity
while others seem to be on a roll
Desperate, disparaged, off the chain
not knowing which direction will stop my pain
Plummeting into a place i've not seen
clutching anything, looking for a light beam
Darkness surrounds me as I reach out
fighting vicously an endless bout
Never seeing,or knowing when this will end,
Afraid and alone I make my knees bend
I look to my father in heaven above
without hesitation, he sends a dove.
His light shown brightly,i could see my way clear
to the angel's hand, that was near.
Grabbing his hand he lifted me
bringing me thru my red sea

Sins of the Past

When I looked inside your eyes
I saw your reflection of me
and it made me feel beautiful
I couldn't see the limp hair
or saging skin
just beauty that was rare
my eyes shown brightly
no longer dim
my skin radiently clear
right then I knew our
love would last
you would never remind me
of the sins of my past.
