Alexandria Brown

Alexandra Brown attends Newburg Middle School. Her GPA is 4.0.

She recently won an award of excellence in visual arts. Alex won a MathMovesU scholarship from Raytheon which included a one thousand dollar scholarship to a math camp of her choice. True to her NC roots she chose Duke University. ...

Alex formerly won the grand prize for the TARC Derby Art contest and first place in the Kentucky Ducky Art Contest.

Alex balances out her life by singing in the Green Castle Rock Choir and Praise team and dancing with the Spirit of Praise Dance Team.

She is also a Whitney Young scholar and STW Jr Board member.

Alexandria will attend duPont Manual MST in the fall.


Kennedy Kniffley

Kennedy E. Kniffley is the 14-year old daughter of Steve and Valerie Kniffley. She attends Barrett Middle School and maintained a straight-A average during her 6th and 7th grade and is currently an A-B student in 8th grade. Kennedy received the Presidents Award from President Barack Obama. She is a member of the Whitney M. Young Scholars and is an STW Board member. She is a part of the ROCK Choir at Green Castle Baptist Church where Rev. James R. Pitts is her pastor. Her activities include Beta Club, Mime Ministry, and playing the flute. In her free time, Kennedy likes to read and spend time with friends and family.

Kennedy will attend Male High School in the fall.


Yacine Diop

Yacine Diop is an eighth grader at Newburg Middle School. She is in the AP MST Program. Yacine is a solid 4.0 GPA student and has had perfect attendance her entire life. Yacine's activities include Beta Club, Math Counts, and Whitney M. Young Scholars. She won first place in the district written composition and enjoys spending her free time doing extra activities and with friends and family.

Yacine will attend duPont Manual High School's MST Program in the fall.
